Description
The Advanced White Water Safety course (AWWS) is designed for people who are paddling on moving water and want to learn how to navigate safely and handle emergencies. It covers topics such as emergency planning, chase boating, and equipment rescues, which are essential for independent participation on grade 3 & 4 white water rivers. The course is two days long and has 12 modules that can be delivered over a weekend or modularly, making it flexible and accommodating to different schedules and preferences.

Pre-Requisite
To make the most of your course, it’s important that you feel comfortable swimming in and being around grade 3 (4) water. You should also be able to paddle your craft independently. If you have already obtained the Progressive White Water Award, the Progressive Canoe Award, the Slalom Perform Award, or similar qualifications, you will be better equipped to fully engage in and enjoy your course.

The following is a list of recommended equipment:
- Towline OR tow system
- Throwline
- Webbing (sewn or un-sewn sling) and large carabiner
- Whistle
