Description
To become a Paddlesport Leader, you must complete the one-day, mainly practical, BCAB Paddlesport Leader Assessment. This will include displaying participant-focused leadership skills, personal paddling and rescue skills, and underpinning background knowledge, understanding and experience.
Methods Of Assessment:
- In order to achieve the qualification you need to show competence in the following elements:
- Participant focused leadership skills
- Personal paddling skills
- Rescue skills
- Underpinning background knowledge, understanding and experience
The BCAB Paddlesport Leader Assessment will normally run over 1 or 2 days. This will depend on the course ratios and logistics relating to access to suitable environments.
Upon completion of the BCAB Paddlesport Leader Assessment, the course provider will submit successful participants for certification.
Pre-Requisites:
- Full National Association Membership
- Valid (within 3 years) British Canoeing Awarding Body recognised 1-day First Aid Award
- Valid (within 3 years) Safeguarding Training recognised by British Canoeing Awarding Body
What You Need to Bring:
- Your Own Kayak (unless agreed to hire)
- Personal paddling clothing and equipment, including suitable footwear for on the water, Buoyancy Aid and Helmet
- Lunch and Drink for both days
- The equipment that you would need to lead a group.
